Tracks is one of the rare Autobots who prefers his new Earth car mode to his original Cybertronian form. His focus on appearance has caused tension with his fellow Autobots, as they believe he should prioritize combat against the Decepticons over concerns about his looks. Tracks first appeared in season 2 of the animated series during "Dinobot Island Part 2". He later starred in two episodes - "Make Tracks" and "Auto-Bop". In "Make Tracks", he was assigned to combat car-jackings in New York, where he fell in love with the city. However, after chasing some thieves, he crashed and was stolen by a street youth named Raul. The two eventually worked together to uncover the true purpose of the stolen cars - creating an army of drones for the Decepticons. Although Tracks was gradually phased out in season 3, he made appearances during Transformers Headmasters operations on Earth.
