Rikuos mother is Wakana, a human who lives in the Nura house despite being surrounded by yokai. She first met Rihan when he helped her family get rid of an evil spirit. They became friends and he took her on his nightly rides with yokai. Although she's human, Wakana seems to have no problem living among these supernatural creatures. Wakana noticed that Rihan rarely smiled, so she tried to make him laugh by pulling his mouth into a grin. During one of their outings, she told him that she would always live longer than him to protect and look after him.
