Klaus is the head butler of the Sanzenin family, who frequently travels for business. Despite having low tolerance for alcohol and discomfort with tobacco and women, he enjoys cars and motorcycles. Initially, Klaus was skeptical and hostile towards Hayate because he believed that Hayate should have found Himegami's replacement on his own. Often, their interactions resulted in a losing condition where Hayate would be dismissed from his position. As time passed, Klaus became more of an enigmatic figure who appeared sporadically to express his displeasure with being forgotten.
