In the anime, Daichi is a kind and protective individual who takes pictures of the mansion that some students claim is haunted. When he discovers the truth, the girls decide to help him out. Both Daichi and Ai go above and beyond to assist their friends, which may be why they develop a connection. In 2000, as an adult, Daichi's daughter takes a photo at the beach that reminds him of the mansion where the girls lived, prompting him to visit them again. Upon meeting Ai, she becomes agitated because she doesn't know how to react. Later, when he returns and is attacked by Keith, she reveals the truth about their connection.
