Maki Kawasaki is a leader on Team Warrior who received cases from upper management. She takes charge of deploying the team's resources, but can be serious at times. Despite this, she also has a sense of humor and seems to know how to motivate her team effectively. The team appears to have no problem getting what they want, including money. Maki has a past that is not widely known by her colleagues on Team Warrior. Several years ago, she was saved from an attacker by Masato, a police officer. She fell in love with him and became a cop herself after he disappeared while pursuing a case involving black diamonds. Although the investigation into the black diamonds was temporarily put aside when Maki was appointed to head up the SWAT team, it will be revisited in Excess. When she became captain of Team Warrior, Maki cut her hair and wore glasses as part of her uniform.
