Following this incident, Reika developed feelings for Kindaichi and sent him a heart-shaped chocolate on Valentine's Day without disclosing her identity. Since then, she and Miyuki have been competing over Kindaichi. In "Playing the Fool," it was unveiled that Reikas past, which even she had forgotten about, was exposed. Furthermore, in "Reikas Kidnapping," it was revealed that Reika's real mother is a renowned actress named Keiko Mitamura, but throughout the series, Reika remained oblivious to this fact, and only Keiko and Kindaichi knew of her true lineage.
