Purple Pearl Mermaid Princess, かれん

Karen is the fourth Mermaid Princess of the Antarctic Ocean and keeper of the Purple Pearl. She escaped to the human world with Hanon and Rina when Gaito attacked her kingdom. Although she was discovered by the trio, she refused to join them. This was due to her hatred for Rina, as Karen believed that Rina had left Noel behind when he was captured by Gackto. In reality, Noel sacrificed himself to save Rina. Karen resolved to save Noel on her own and eventually did so, especially during the introduction of the Black Beauty Sisters. Near the end of the first season, Karen sided with the trio as they faced their final battle against Gaito. After Gaito's defeat, Karen left to help rebuild her kingdom. She returned to the human world with Noel and Coco, becoming comic relief. Karen also returned for the battle against Michel. Initially strict and mean, she started to warm up to the trio and showed her playful side more. In Pure, Karen's personality was not fully revealed, but she was energetic and playful unlike in the manga.
