Ami was an Academy Student from Konohagakure who appeared during a flashback to Ino Yamanaka and Sakura Harunos time at the Ninja Academy. During a kunoichi lesson, she teased Sakura about her forehead, causing Ino to throw a flower (which she claimed was poisonous) into Amis mouth. Ami quickly ran away to inform their teacher, Suzume. She had purple hair styled like Karin.
