In the original script, Turnabout Sisters was going to be the first case, but it was changed so that Mia could interact more with Phoenix as his mentor before that happened. Mia has a younger sister named Maya and is close to her despite their age difference. Her mother has been missing for 15 years, but she has an aunt named Morgan and a cousin named Pearl. She's also dating Diego Armando, who was her law mentor after the Terry Fawles case that traumatized her so badly. Despite this, their love is undeniable.
