A small black cat owned by Dr. Briefs is often seen perched on his shoulder. Although it's not officially confirmed, many believe Tama to be a female due to her name meaning "ball" in Japanese. In the English dub, Tama is indeed portrayed as female, with Dr. Briefs stating that she has 5 years of experience. However, since Tama doesn't speak, it could pose an issue for fixing machines.
