At Asaoka High School, there's a student named Maria Sudō who is also the pitching ace for the softball club. Both Shū Akiba and Coach Yamazakura have feelings for her. Meanwhile, as her disguised alter ego, Maria evades some local gangsters and gets pursued by Naoto Kadomatsu from the same apartment building. Her father is a pro wrestler but not very famous. She comes across as brusque and blunt in her behavior. In the anime, Maria ends up marrying Coach Yamazakura. Some of her favorite phrases include "Hey now" (おいおい Oi oi?) and "How annoying" (あー、めんどくせ Aa, mendokuse?).
