Gouken, who was the master of Ryu and Ken, learned the art of killing from Shotokan karate's founder, Goutetsu. While Akuma fully embraced the Dark Hadou, Gouken rejected the violence inherent in the system. He developed a modified version of Shotokan that emphasized self-defense, personal growth, and spiritual development. Tragically, Gouken was killed by his own brother Akuma during a battle to the death.
