The character commonly referred to as "the Princess" in this story is Camille, who is approximately ten years old. Being an only child and having a father frequently away on business contributed to her feelings of loneliness. As a result, one of the primary reasons Nemo was brought to Slumberland was to serve as a companion for her. Although they initially had some difficulties getting along, Camille and Nemo eventually became friends. She strongly disapproves of Flip's habit of smoking cigars and makes it clear that he is never allowed to do so in her presence again. Despite his frequent absences, she deeply loves her father and asks Flip (at Nemo's suggestion) to take them to Nightmareland after King Morpheus is kidnapped by the Nightmare King. Initially hesitant, Flip eventually agrees, only because he has no other viable alternatives and fears being shot out of a cannon into space. At the end of the film, Camille shares a kiss with Nemo before he wakes up.
