Tao pai pai is a skilled assassin who was hired by the red ribbon army to retrieve goku's dragon balls and kill him. he succeeds in defeating goku but only takes all but one of his dragon balls, saving goku's life with it. three days later, tao returns to claim the remaining dragon ball, but goku has received special training from karin during that time and proves too strong for tao. injured by a grenade thrown at him, tao is rebuilt as a cyborg by his older brother and competes in the 23rd tenkaichi budokai, defeating chaozu but losing to tenshinhan after being cut with a knife. he later appears during the cell games saga and serves as an inspiration for lau chan from virtua fighter.
