Jirou is a student at university studying engineering. While returning from vacation in Tokyo, he encounters a young girl named Naoko and her maid. Unfortunately, during their journey, the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 occurs, halting the train and injuring Naokos maid. Despite this, Jirou assists Naoko and her injured companion to reach Naoko's family. He then departs without revealing his identity.
