An elderly man with golden teeth was observed sitting in front of a bookstore playing shougi. He noticed Jin observing foreign ships at sea and informed him that those vessels were operating illegally. The man then proposed a game of shougi where Jin's life would be at stake, and a substantial sum of money would serve as the prize. During the match, the man attempted to cheat by tipping over the board, but Jin was able to detect this and exposed him. Jin also tried to manipulate the situation in his favor, only to be caught red-handed.
