Johnny and Yosaku are similar in their carefree personalities, but Johnny tends to be more serious while still occasionally acting silly around Yosaku. Despite this, Johnny can also be somewhat dimwitted and has a cowardly side, as demonstrated when he left Zoro to escape with Usopp.
