Itsuko is the daughter of Kaishu, a former samurai who disowned Daigoro as his student. This caused her to become angry with her father when she learned about it. She later visited him at the Kamiya house and was kidnapped by thugs under Okubo's orders. However, she was eventually saved from her captors by Kenshin Gumi.
