Kantarou is an intelligent young folklorist who also works part-time as an exorcist with the ability to see youkai. He possesses a cunning and manipulative nature that allows him to deceive others into doing what he desires, while simultaneously anticipating their reactions. This trait has earned him the title of tactician from Haruka. Despite his intelligence and sneaky tendencies, Kantarou is genuinely compassionate towards youkai and believes in reasoning with them rather than killing them. His altruistic approach to exorcism has been met with criticism by both Haruka and Sugino, who fear it may put him at risk.
