The middle blocker for aoba josai high school's volleyball club is a former teammate of kageyama from junior high school. although they had different playing styles and attitudes, kindaichi was one of the players who disliked kageyama's self-centered plays and found it difficult to understand him. despite this, he appears competitive and stubborn, and it took some time for him to accept that kageyama has changed. even after accepting his change, kindaichi still did not forgive kageyama and chose to remain enemies with him. he seems to respect and admire the third years on his current team, particularly oikawa, whom he once complimented. however, when oikawa thanked him for something, kindaichi stumbled over his "thank you" while standing stiffly with both arms by his side.
