Sōjirō is the second oldest child of the Ayanokōji family, a muscular and heavily scarred man with the ability to stop Kyōshirōs sword swings and endure Tarlottes beatings. Despite being the target of her anger, he seems most concerned with her well-being, providing energy when she falls unconscious after a battle despite her attacks on him. Unlike his siblings, Sōjirō expresses compassion for those temporarily drained by Tarlotte and shows pity towards all Absolute Angels. He cares for Tarlotte as a person, doing his best to keep her happy and safe. In contrast with Kyōshirōs and Mikas behavior towards their Absolute Angels, Sōjirō seems peaceful and thoughtful, caring for the fate of bystanders on his own initiative. Early on, he recognizes that events in his world are spiraling out of control and tries to decide the best course of action to address this situation. He resembles Girochi from Kannazuki no Miko in some ways.
