Mio is the first Strike Witch in charge of training recruits as well as being a veteran of early battles against Neuroi. She has an official rank of Major, but was commissioned as Squadron Leader. At nineteen years old, she's the oldest witch and comes from Fuso like Yoshika. Mio is known for her toughness and maturity, often appearing strict due to her disciplinarian nature. However, when not equipped with her Striker, she's friendly and has a distinct laugh. She carries a 13mm Type99 machine gun into battle along with a magical katana capable of cutting apart giant Neuroi. Her Striker Unit is based on the A6M Zero, while she herself is modeled after Saburo Sakai and Tetsuzō Iwamoto. Despite her age, Mio's magical power has declined due to aging, making it difficult for her to erect effective shields in combat. However, she can still fly and use her enhanced visual abilities from an eye patch that grants increased visual prowess and the ability to spot Neuroi cores.
