Miyu is an independent, headstrong, and very kind classmate of Ran who is one of her closest friends. However, beneath her romantic and cute exterior lies a dark past. When she was in third grade, her parents divorced (her father is currently remarried), and she lived with her mother, who paid more attention to finding new men than raising Miyu. She despised Miyu because she reminded her of her ex-husband. As the leader of a street gang called "Resistance," Miyu often caused trouble during middle school and had a rough personality that Ran found threatening. One day, Yamato saved her from a difficult situation, and his dedication to helping with her problems made her fall in love with him. Because of this, she left the life of crime and became more polite. However, Miyu remains an incredible fighter and can get back to her bullying ways when someone upsets her or makes her angry. In conversation, she often refers to herself in the third person, like many cutesy characters do. Ran frequently comments on how "lovey-dovey" Miyu is with her older brother, and there's a running gag in both series where they interrupt when they're trying to kiss, usually by Ran.
