In the first episode of One Piece, Alvida is introduced as an obese female pirate captain with freckles covering her face. Coby, a pink-haired boy, serves under her after being captured. She frequently asks who the most beautiful woman in the world is and expects the answer to be herself. After her defeat by Luffy, she consumes the Sube Sube fruit (Smooth Smooth), which enables incoming attacks to pass through her. Her freckles disappear following consumption of the fruit, as does her figure. In the 52nd episode, Alvida is portrayed as an attractive beauty after her defeat by Luffy. She later joins forces with Buggy to seek revenge on their mutual enemy and takes charge of his crew for a brief period while he was captured by Marines.
