Initially, Mare was intended to serve as the main adversary in Shakugan no Shana DS and PS2 game series. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, her role was later reduced to a minor antagonist. In the initial episodes of the second season, she is portrayed as an enemy. Later on, it's disclosed that Mare had a past romantic connection with Sabrac.
