Utsunomiko was born with a horn on his forehead and due to this unique feature, his mother abandoned him. An elderly shūgenja woman took the child under her wing and named him Utsunomiko, meaning Divine Child of the Heavens. She explained that his horn represented the connection between heaven and earth. As he grew up in the wilderness, Miko learned about Shugendō and eventually began to venture into villages. There, he discovered the hardships faced by the villagers and used his spiritual abilities to assist them. However, his anger towards self-centered rulers and their petty squabbles escalated until he confronted the Imperial Court, marking the beginning of a long journey as an advocate for the downtrodden. His childhood friend is Kagami, whom he developed romantic feelings for when they grew older. During their quest to rescue her from Taishaku-ten's grasp, Miko found himself in a desperate struggle against Taishaku-ten and his fellow deities.
