The protagonist of this story is Taison, a well-known delinquent from Teiken High in Kichijoji, Tokyo. Despite his reputation for being quick-tempered and sometimes foolish (he once punched a professor after hearing about a change in the girls' uniform), Taison possesses strong values such as honor and respect, and highly cherishes his friends. He is one of Tokyo's top four elite fighters, known as "Heavenly Kings," and aims to become the world champion in boxing. His name combines elements from wrestler Akira Maeda and former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson. Along with his older brother, he resides at the Honky Tonk apartment complex in Tokyo, having left their southern hometown to avoid inheriting their father's profession as a monk. Although he is light on alcohol consumption, Taison can become emotional and break into tears easily.
