Michio, originally from Tatsumiya Island, left with his father Youji to fight for the world instead of just their island five years before the series began. He became an ace pilot of the Human Army and trained Canon Memphis, whom he saved during a battle in Dublin, Ireland. After returning to the island, Michio proved himself as a good person by turning against his former army when they attempted to destroy Tatsumiya Island. For years, Michio has been in love with Toomi Yumiko and endured the gradual decay of his chromosomes from piloting his Fafner so that his father could research his cells and extend the lives of all Fafner pilots. When he returned to settle on Tatsumiya Island, he and Yumiko found happiness together amidst their battle-ridden lives. Michio is known as "666" in the Human Army and piloted the Fafner Mega Therion initially but later flew the Mark I. His father is stationed at the New United Nations Moldova Base, while his mother was killed along with Kuramae Karin during the first Festum attack on Tatsumiya Island.
