Don Carlos Prideaux is Lolita's father who is 50 years old and owns land like Diego's father, Don Alejandro de la Vega. He is ambitious but not openly arrogant or bad. In order to maintain his family's prosperity, he has made some questionable deals with the Governor that may have been unjust or even illegal at times. For example, he helped smugglers and took a portion of their ill-gotten gains. Despite this, Don Carlos Prideaux is not considered a bad person or criminal, but his actions often seem to be on the verge of being so.
