In the manga series One Piece, there is a character named Kaya who inherits her family's wealth after their deaths. She becomes sickly and relies on Klahadore, who was found near death on their doorstep by her father, to take care of her. Despite his disapproval, the town liar Usopp tells her tall tales that make her laugh and feel better. However, when he is kicked out by Klahadore, Kaya believes him to be a bad influence. One day, while listening in on a conversation between Klahadore and Jango, Usopp discovers that the latter plans to kill Kaya for her money. He tries to warn her but she refuses to believe him, rebuking him when he insists it's true. It is only after Kuro, who is actually Captain Kuro, is defeated that Kaya learns of his plan and gives the Straw Hats the Going Merry. In a recent manga chapter, Kaya discovers Usopp's Sogeking bounty poster and realizes he is the one she knew from her past. She comments on how she wants to help him when he returns, but his "pirate crew" vow to beat him up if he ever makes her cry.
