Petra's son, Heinz, was a police officer who lived in the same town as Schumann. He was highly ambitious and frequently prioritized advancing his career over addressing his mother's loneliness. When he discovered that Tenma was present in their city, Heinz became fixated on capturing him. Despite Schumann cautioning him about the gravity of the situation, Heinz persisted in waving his gun around during a surgery. Eventually, Schumann convinced him to abandon plans for imprisoning Tenma after considering all that he had accomplished. Reluctantly, Heinz contacted his superiors and admitted that he had mistaken another Asian man for Tenma during the arrest.
