In the World Tournament, Goku defeats Majin Buu, causing him to be killed. As a result, Goku wishes for Buu to be reincarnated as a good person so that they can fight again. This wish results in Uub, whose name is derived from "Buu" spelled backwards. After completing his training at the end of Z, GT begins with Uub's development as a young warrior and farmer. Uub gains his powers due to being created from Buu. Later, he fuses with the original Majin Buu, increasing his power almost to match Bebei's. He then battles Super #17 and later evil dragons.
