In the story, there is an entity known as No Face who becomes interested in Chihiro. Through a side door, she allows him to enter the bathhouse where he initially appears as a mysterious, cloaked figure with a mask. He feeds off the emotions of those around him and is grateful for Chihiro's help because she had assisted him earlier. However, after witnessing the greedy reactions of the bathhouse staff towards gold, No Face transforms into a monstrous being that consumes large amounts of food. His behavior changes based on the emotions he perceives from others, and he reverts to his original form once he leaves the influence of the bathhouse. In the end, No Face remains with Zeniba as her assistant. The character of No Face shares many similarities with the Japanese Noh theater, including his mask, movement, and voice-taking abilities.
