Shuu may seem carefree, but in reality, he's quite sensitive. He was the first to notice that Chitoge and Ichijou weren't actually dating. Additionally, Shuu was the only one who seemed to understand that Tsugumi was a girl, although he kept this thought to himself for amusement purposes. Lastly, it's worth mentioning that Shuu is someone who would go to great lengths just for a good laugh. He and Raku Ichijou are close friends.
