Taiken Chin  

Master Chin, 陳 大拳

Master chin, also known as chin taiken, was a martial artist who led the chin-star school. he became famous when goku was looking for someone strong to test his power against and an old lady suggested that he was the strongest person around. when goku encountered shoken, son of master chin, it turned out that shoken had allegedly stolen rising dragon's wallet from a member of the panther-fang school. the two schools were bitter rivals, so master chin was eager to defend his school and his son. he used his signature technique, phantom-star (a variation of afterimage technique), on two of rising dragon's goons before becoming sick due to an illness. despite this, he agreed to a sparring session with goku but had to withdraw again due to his condition. his sickness was so severe that he could not compete in king wonton's martial arts competition against sky dragon. after deciding that shoken was not yet ready, chin allowed goku to take his place and win the match by using chin's technique. this made him "the master of martial arts." eventually, chin and sky put their differences aside as sky started anew under chin in the chin-star school.
