Genzo Wakabayashi is an exceptional goalkeeper who excels at catching anything thrown towards him. Few shots can get past him. He's a charismatic person and is loyal to his friends. Genzo keeps his emotions hidden from others, as seen in Shin Captain Tsubasa when he critiques his teammates' performance to help them understand the differences between football in Europe and Japan. His actions led many Japanese players to dislike him, but Genzo only revealed his true intentions to Tsubasa. Since childhood, Genzo has aimed to become the best goalkeeper in the world. Initially, he was selfish and boastful about his skills until he played against Tsubasa, after which he learned to enjoy the game with his teammates.
