Despite this, he often misspells names, referring to Gintoki as Kintoki. Gintoki corrects him, stating that if his name were Kintoki, they would be in a hentai anime due to the similarity between Kin and Gin. However, Sakamoto is actually a successful businessman who believes that running a business is a means of protecting his country. He has a well-equipped defensive fleet for this purpose. Despite his goofy nature, Sakamoto values sacrifices for the greater good and left Earth to travel into space. In an anime filler episode, he was shown skilled with a pistol. His name is derived from historical character Sakamoto Ryoma, and he speaks in Tosa-ben like his inspiration.
