Rebecca, along with her friends rafe, sid, audrey, and kathryn, arrived at larousse city for the battle tower competition. there she met ash ketchum and his companions. when an aurora borealis appeared over the city, rebecca began studying it to learn more about its unusual nature. she did this alongside professor lund's assistant yuko. rebecca was later introduced to tory lund and his mysterious friend. her interest in tory's friend grew as she learned that they shared the same energy pattern as the aurora. when deoxys attacked the city, rebecca and her friends took refuge in professor lund's lab. it was there that she realized that tory's friend had the same energy signature as the aurora. rebecca later helped to restore power to the city by having her metagross use psychic to turn a windmill. she made an appearance in the opening of pokémon ranger and the temple of the sea, where she was seen fighting brendan's swampert with her tyranitar. rebecca also appeared as a cameo on route 224 in pokémon diamond, pearl, and platinum, using a level 56 metagross to battle an ace trainer. in that appearance, she mentioned analyzing battles using her laptop. however, the translation team of those games did not recognize this easter egg and named her jamie instead.
