In the anime, Shion, who shares her name with the protagonist, is assigned to track down and eliminate Geists. However, when she's rescued by a Geist-infected individual named Hiroki, she reciprocates his kindness by sparing him from death at that moment because of his strong heart that resisted the Geist. Eventually, Shion develops feelings for Hiroki.
