Chan is an assistant to Amuro Ray during the Second Neo Zeon War, working for Londo Bell as a technical officer. Her close relationship with Amuro earns her disdain from Quess Paraya, who insultingly refers to her as a "vile old woman." Eventually, this animosity leads to Quess betraying Amuro when he tries to prevent Char Aznable from executing his plan to destroy Earth with an Axis asteroid.
