In chapter 2, a man kidnaps Shirayuki while she's climbing a mountain. His motive was to show off her rare red hair and make money. The man used to be a noble but lost his rank and wealth. Driven by desperation, he resorted to using any means necessary to earn money. Later in the story, he requests an audience with Prince Zen, who had been wronged by him when he kidnapped Shirayuki. Despite this, Zen is cautious of him and suspects that there may be a hidden agenda behind his request for an audience. Mihaya later discovers information about a "pretty boy" looking to kidnap Shirayuki. She helps in the search for him when Shirayuki goes to Tanburn.
