In 1938, a mysterious figure was discovered in a Mexican pyramid. He was then studied by a Nazi vampire research team in an underground laboratory. The group, led by Major Stroheim, conducted experiments on the stone mask with live human subjects to enhance the Nazi military's strength. Santana, the subject of these tests, was awakened and placed in an advanced isolation room equipped with steel plates for further observation. It was discovered that Santana fed off vampires and could absorb nutrients from his own body surface. The team was shocked when Santana managed to escape from the isolation chamber by breaking his bones and squeezing himself through a 4-by-20 cm ventilation outlet at an incredible speed, faster than human eyes could perceive. Despite being shot with machine guns, Santana learned the language of his captors and their weapon mechanisms within minutes. He then effortlessly dispatched the Nazis who had disturbed him and survived attacks, exposure to sunlight, and explosions. Due to his enhanced Ripple power, it is possible that Joseph killed Santana after returning to America. Despite this, Santana remains the only surviving member of the Pillar Men throughout all arcs.
