Karel Ranke was once a captain in the Czechoslovakian Secret Police and attended reading seminars led by Franz Bonaparta and Peter Čapek. He oversaw the Red Rose Mansion until Inspector Heinrich Lunge requested to examine it during his visit to Prague. Additionally, he was the uncle of Adolf Reinhardt, a boy who enjoyed cocoa and had been friends with Wolfgang Grimmer, an orphan from 511 Kinderheim in Germany whose identity may have been discovered at a later time.
