Ryo possesses an inherent talent for pitching due to her father's influence. She is also left-handed like him. Initially, she did not plan on attending high school because she wanted to assist her mother at their family's Oden shop. However, she was later recruited by the Kisaragi Girls High School to establish a new baseball team. Prior to playing for Kisaragi, Ryo often served as relief pitcher for a local sandlot baseball team known as the Wildcats.
