In contemporary timespace, yū is a classmate of harukas in the anime series. unlike other students, yū is being pressured by his mother to attend cram school so that he can pass an entrance exam for tokyo junior high. due to this obligation, yū has limited time for anything except studying. initially, yū tries to evade these responsibilities with unsuccessful results. eventually, after a confrontation with his mother, yū realizes the importance of taking the exams because he lacks any special talents. on the other hand, yū initially shows no interest in joining lacryma or the dragon knights due to karasus disdain for him and atoris erratic behavior. however, as circumstances unfold, yū reluctantly becomes involved with this group. eventually, he teams up with karasu to save all timespaces from noein. when faced with a monstrous version of himself, yū rejects noein and destroys his power.
