Sakuras best friend Tomoyo Daidouji's mother, Sonomi Daidouji, is a wealthy woman who serves as the President of a large toy corporation. She was also the first cousin of Sakuras late mother, Nadeshiko Kinomoto. Despite her love for Nadeshiko, she disapproved of her marriage to Fujitaka and later blamed him for Nadeshikos death at a young age. During their marriage, it seems that Nadeshiko was somewhat estranged from her family. Sonomi keeps Tomoyo's hair long as a reminder of Nadeshiko.
