Don Weis' behavior is influenced by his wife Eva's sudden death in a race ten years before the start of The Great Race of Oban. It was later discovered that Spirit did not cause the crash; instead, it was due to Maya's ship leaking fuel from the engine and exploding. Eva aims to win the race to bring her mother back to life and reunite her family. However, she learns that the "Ultimate Prize" does not have the power to resurrect her mother. Later, she discovers that it was Canaletto who caused the crash. After returning to Earth, Don Weis and Eva pay their final respects at Maya's grave.
