The protagonist is a young man from the sea who discovers Manaka and later befriends her. He comes from a fishing family and enjoys spending time in the ocean and meeting people who live there. Tsumugu is depicted as being reserved, composed, and solitary. While he appears to be unemotional, he has a keen curiosity when it comes to things that interest him. However, Tsumugu lacks determination and often prefers to observe rather than act. Despite his stoic exterior, Tsumugu acknowledges having an emotional side, which he struggles to express.
