In episode 39 of Mobile Suit Gundam, we first see Bull make an appearance. He meets Admiral Gihren Zabi after returning from Jupiter. Based on his abilities, Gihren believes that Challia is a newtype with strong potential to benefit Zeon. As a result, he assigns Bull to work under Kycilia Zabi and sends him to Granada where he operates the Braw Bro mobile suit. There, Kycilia speculates that due to his skills, Challia might replace Lalah Sune as pilot of the Elmeth mobile armor. The Braw Bro is then sent to Chars Zanzibar where Challia meets Char and Lalah. Later, Bull pilots the Braw Bro in battle against Earth Federation's RX-78-2 Gundam and Amuro Ray, a fellow newtype pilot. Despite lasting only about 10 minutes, this intense battle results in the destruction of the Braw Bro and the death of Bull.
