Topaz is an artificial intelligence assistant who works alongside Sonic X and his friends to combat Dr. Eggman's evil plans. She is a GUN agent and partners with Rouge the Bat, despite initially disapproving of her scheming nature. Their primary tasks involve retrieving Chaos Emeralds and serving as ambassadors between Sonic and his allies and the government. Topaz also has romantic feelings for Chris Thorndykes' butler, Mr. Tanaka, which is evident through their shared work on several occasions and a necklace he gave her after she lost in a tournament. Her outfit resembles that of Janet Marshall from Virtua Cop 2 and 3, as well as Anne Lewis from Robocop The Animated Series. Topaz continues to appear in the Sonic X comic book series, where her relationship with Rouge remains consistent. In her final appearance, she said goodbye to Rouge and received a ring as a parting gift. Though Rouge is known for valuing jewels, giving Topaz a ring shows that she holds her partner in higher regard. A tear was visible in Topaz's eye when Rouge waved farewell through the portal.
